Jealous lover  kills boyfriend

A 22-year-old woman whose name was reportedly given as Isatu Dumbuya of Kamassasa village in Kambia District has out of jealousy stabbed her boyfriend, Amadu Bangura to death.  According to scrutinized reports, Amadu was on past Tuesday May 11th 2010 stabbed by Isatu during a disco dance in which the deceased snubbed her for another rival.  Isatu reports say was informed by a friend about Amadus presence at the dance with another girlfriend.  Isatu who lost her cool is said to have wasted no time tracing the deceased and then stabbed him on the chest, leading to profuse bleeding that resulted to his death. The body of the deceased is under postmortem while the suspect is helping the police in investigations.

UNAIDS visits Kenema

A team from the United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS has visited the eastern headquarter city, Kenema to get first hand information on the welfare of people living with the pandemic, reports articulate.  The team on assignment reportedly hanged heads with councilors of the Kenema City Council, the Paramount Chief, and the Centre for Encouraging Caring and Support for HIV Infected Persons (CECSHIP) in Kenema.  The team which was reportedly marshaled by the Country Coordinator of UNAIDS, Mulunesh Tennagashaw was highly impressed by the districts effort towards controlling the spread of HIV/AIDS.

Solar Energy to electrify Sierra Leone soon

Reports have alleged that the installation and supply of solar lighting system will be done in Freetown and other major provincial towns in the country, including all districts headquarter towns.  According to reports, the project is the countrys Silver Jubilee package to be implemented by government to light the major towns and cities ahead of the celebration next year.  Bidding document reported to be out for potential bidders to bid for the supply and installation of the solar panels and accessories.

Police boss stripped naked

Report have alleged that the LUC of Lungi Police Station, Max Kanu was recently stripped naked by members of the Ojeh secret societies for ordering the arrest and detention of  a masked devil belonging to the Sabanoh Ojeh group, a component of ojeh society enclave for several hours.  The LUCs action of disrespect for the society reportedly so much infuriated other ojeh members in the Port Loko district urging them to converge at the police station to get back at him.  Max Kanu was reportedly beaten and stripped naked causing him to run for his life.  He is said to still be in hiding.

APC concedes party youths presence in Pujehun

Both the Minister of Information and Communication IB Kargbo and Political and Mineral Resources, Alhaji Alpha Khanu have indeed accepted that some APC youths were taken to Pujehun to solicit support for the party. According to I B Kargbo, the SLPP has always described their youths as thugs alleged that the SLPP party too had thugs during the recent bye election in Pujehun.  Reports however allege that the APC went to Pujehun to disrupt the election.      

Reverend schools youths on peace

Rev. Cannon Motuba I Harding of the Bishop Crowther Memorial Church at Cline town in Freetown is said to have lectured youths on peace and conflict management in a one-day seminar held in the church.  The Man-of-God is reported to have financed the session single handedly.  Reports say that what prompted him to engage the youngsters was due to the spate in gang related violence among the youth of today. He is reported to have decried violence and conflicts as deterrents to good citizenry.
