Syria and other Arab countries are collaborating with the Ministry of Trade and Industry in a trade fair and exhibition that opened at the Miatta Conference Center in Freetown on Monday 31st Mat, 2010.

At the opening ceremony, deputy minister of trade and industry Hon. Mabinty Daramy expressed delight on her behalf and the government of Sierra Leone to be part of the trade fair. While thanking the organizers extending invitation to the ministry, she said the trade fair will help rekindle the trade relationship we once had with Syria, as well as strengthening our hope and expectation of a stronger Syria-Sierra Leone friendship. "Trade fair is one of the biggest opportunities for showcasing a nation, vis a vis its trade and industrial potentials where new product are exposed and interactions with our potential business and old trading partners are done," she said, impressing that the products displayed were clear manifestation of the industrial development that has taken place in Syria.

She said Sierra Leone is business friendly and that the government is open investment as it is dedicated to private sector growth through foreign investment. She informed that government has embarked on a lot of reforms, making Sierra Leone an attractive business destination.

The Syria Trade fair representative thanked the Sierra Leone government for accepting them in the country, and promised that they will work hand in hand to see that the trade fair ends well
