One of the aspirants for the Sierra Leone Peopleís Party (SLPP) for the presidential election slated for 2012, Lawyer Alpha O. Timbo Esq. over the weekend concluded his regional consultations in Bo and Kenema respectively.

Addressing mammoth crowds in Bo and Kenema, Lawyer Alpha Timbo revealed that he commenced consultation on 1st May 2010 in the Northern Region and has been very much pleased to meet with the regional executives in both regions. He named disunity as been one of the factors that was greatly responsible for the downfall of the SLPP in the 2007 general elections as a result causing them lose the seat of power to the ruling All Peoples Congress (APC). He further cited lack of respect for elders within the partyís pinnacle, adding that the road map towards 2012 is not an easy one but will take a serious political party utmost seriousness to ensure that they choose a rightful Flagbearer.

Timbo further assured his audience that his team is very much aware of the challenges faced in galvanizing support for the SLPP in the Northern Province, stressing that notwithstanding these challenges, his team is doing all in their capacity to change the perception of the people. He said his utmost desire when he would have become Flagbearer for the party is to change the status of people living in the provinces towards the partyís administration. Lawyer Timbo further described the current APC administration as reckless and untruthful and cannot meet the demands of the people in the country. He went on that it is an administration that engages in rampant interference in other institutions, adding further that it is a disgrace for a President to admit that his Ministers had failed him, yet did nothing about it but rather continue to pamper them and allow them to still serve in the same ministries. He called on SLPP members to be united as one family if only they are to win the 2012 presidential election. On his part, the Chairman for SLPP Kenema District Arthur Koroma commended Lawyer Timbo for the respect and confidence he had shown for his party supporters. He further described the honorable gentleman as a true son of the SLPP. He assured Lawyer Timbo of his Districtís continuing support and further assured him that they will call an emergency meeting after his departure, to come up with agreements on the development of the party and a possible selection of the esteemed gentleman as their preferred Flagbearer come 2012.¬†
