In Sierra Leone, London Mining Opens Bid For Local Companies

London Mining PL on the 8th June 2010 opened a competitive bidding for local construction companies in the Port Loko and Bombali Districts in the Northern part of Sierra Leone. The bidding is for the Rehabilitations of Marampa Mines Facilities and the reconstruction of the Senior Staff quarters in Lunsar. 12 local companies have already applied for the contract awaiting the approval of the company.
At the launch, the Procurement Officer of LMC, Madam Florence Foray said it was part of their cooperate responsibilities to promote local companies. She said the bidding process was in line with laid down regulations such as legal registration with the Potloko or Bombali District Councils and the ministry of works, updated NRA receipts and NASSIT clarifications among others.
She disclosed that bid documents opening will be immediately followed by evaluation to choose the suitable and most qualified company to undertake the projects. Madam Foray revealed that there are three Lots for allocation and that each Lot has two giant structures and the structures should be built in a standard form.
She concluded by stating that they are using local construction companies in fulfillment of their Mining Agreement they signed with government.
