FAWE and EMCISS Target Deprived Communities

Reports say FAWE recently conducted a two day workshop funded by ENCISS at FAWE Office, Hill Street Freetown, on the Theme: “Increase Citizens access to education”. According to the reports, the aim of the workshop was to teach parents and Community leaders on the importance of sending their Children to School especially the girl child. Many other issues including the essence of education for deprived communities were discussed by participants.

Annie Walsh School Holds School Leavers Service

The Annie Walsh Memorial Secondary School last Friday held its annual School Leavers Service at the School’s Chapel, Kissy Road in Freetown, on the Theme, “And Let us with Determination run the race that is before Us”. Reports say the guest of honour Mrs. Veronica Lasite who doubles as Old girl and principal of the Vine Memorial Secondary School advised the School leavers to make good use of their talents and achieve more.

MP and Flagbearer Gives Hopeful Promises

The Hon. Robin Falley of Constituency 7 in Kailahun and aspiring candidate for SLPP’s Presidential Candidacy has reportedly informed that if elected he will make the Party to be more attractive to the People of Sierra Leone. According to him, he will work closely with the Party to ensure a complete facelift so as to grab a landslide victory come 2010 elections. He is reported to have opined that the Youth population supports his candidature.

More Fake Leones in Circulation


Local tabloids say there are more faked notes of the newly resized Leone currency notes now floating all over the country. According to the reports, the Counterfeit notes are causing a lot of harm on vulnerable traders. Reports say many business people now detest the new notes after being duped by some unscrupulous individuals who are circulating the counterfeit notes.

World Bank Sensitizes MPs on Procurement and Finance

Two World Bank consultants have reportedly sensitized Sierra Leone parliamentarians on Tuesday 8th June 2010 at the House of Parliament in Freetown. The MPs reportedly gained knowledge in Procurement and Financial management. The aim of the educative program was to thoroughly educated MPs especially the Oversight Committees to be able to tackle procurement issues in their role as the People’s representative.

APC Salary Wahala Rocks Prison Dept

The All Peoples Congress Ruling Government is alleged to yet to be able to pay the salaries of over 300 prison recruits who were trained since October last year. According to reports, the officers are finding it very difficult to do their jobs because everyday they spend money to go to work. The Public Relations Officer of the Sierra Leone Prisons, Mohamed O. Jimmy is reported to have disclosed that the Officers are not going to be immediately paid as they have to fulfil certain Criteria in conjunction with the consolidated fund. Reports say the recruits are going to first undergo some national verification and other processes.

Subscribers Demand Extension of Sim Registration

Subscribers of various Mobile telecommunication companies in the Country are calling on the relevant authorities especially NATCOM to extend the period for registration of Sim Cards. According to reports subscribers are facing more constraints to undergo this required registration of their Sims. They are therefore demanding for GSM operators to employ more staff for the registration processes.

62 Year Old Man Rapes Three Year Old Girl

A 62 year Old Man, Ibrahim Mansaray had made his first appearance before the Lungi Magistrate Court on Tuesday 8th June for allegedly raping a three year old girl. The Head of Family Support Unit (FSU) at Lungi Police Station Abdul S. Bangura says the perpetrator committed the act inside his residence at new site Old Port Loko Road, Tintafor Lungi. According to reports the man penetrated himself into the little girl. Medical reports confirmed that there was a recent interference with the girl’s sexual organs. The suspect is currently on remand at the Port Loko Prison in Port Loko Town.
