ActionAid Sierra Leone in collaboration with Education for All (EFA) and the Sierra Leone Teachers Union (SLTU) over the weekend ended a three-day workshop on education financing and capacity building for 30 (thirty) participants drawn from Civil Society Organizations (CSO) at the Ramzy House, Liverpool Street in Freetown on the theme: ‘Invest in Education, Invest in Children’.

In an exclusive chat with staff after the workshop, the Educations Coordinator Mrs. Madiana Samba said it aimed at providing information for participants for transmission to stakeholders to allocate more resources to the educational sector in Sierra Leone. Also discussed according to her included the ‘Parktonian Recommendations of 2006’ and how to implement those recommendations; providing a refreshers training on education rights and rolling out education financing campaign. "The slogan of the campaign ‘1 Goal’, set in concert with the ongoing World Cup competition aims at telling the whole world that the standard of education in some parts of the world is falling with need for authorities to pay some attention to it," she said.

Communication Officer Pater Beckley said ‘Education for All’ will strengthen education in Sierra Leone. "72 million children worldwide are out of school and ActionAid will not relent in targeting and boosting the education of these children," he said, as he called on mothers to pay attention to their children. He entreated that education of a child greatly relies on women at home and that women should not feel marginalized. "No one is marginalizing women but rather they are marginalizing themselves by looking down on their capability to do things."
