The parliamentary oversight committee on Mines and Mineral on the 28th June 2010 inspected London Mining Company’s Lunsar facilities in the Port Loko District where they are scheduled to mine ore.

Chairman of Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Mines and Minerals, Hon Chernor Maju Bah said he hoped it was not a surprise to London Mining Company for the site visit as they had long being notified them as part of their constitutional responsibilities to know what the mining companies are doing in the country.

“We are here as a committee to get first hand facts about the status of the company to be filed in parliament,” Hon Maju Bah informed, adding that in as much as the people and government of Sierra Leone have respect for the mining companies in the country with a lot of impact on the country’s development, it was their responsibility to oversee their operations.

Giving an update on LMC’s status, the Mineral Resources Manager, Mr. K. Barrie noted that the company had completed its resource indicators at all levels as they are presently working on the tailings and the Primary ore. Mr. Barrie furthered that the company has already started the construction of its facilities at the plant site including other Major resource base establishments to meet their March 2011.
