In Sierra Leone, City Council Commissions King Jimmy Multipurpose Store

The Mayor of Freetown City Council His Lordship Herbert George Williams on Thursday 1st June 2010 commissioned the newly constructed city store at King Jimmy in central Freetown.
In his short address before the cutting of the tape, the city father said they have started actualizing their promises to traders within the municipality with the construction of market structures as manifested by the construction of a compartmentalizes storage facility. "In a few days time we will also be commissioning another facility at a car wash in front of the National Stadium," he informed, adding that in another 30 days period the modern market stores at Sewa Grounds will also be commissioned. He said FCC was determined to deliver basic service as mandated by law.
Present at the ceremony was the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Mabinty Daramy who said expressed her appreciation for the Freetown City Council for making efforts in ensuring that petty traders within the municipality were better positioned with adequate facilitate to do their businesses. "Traders are contributing immensely to the economic development of the country for which council must pay attention to their welfare," Hon. Daramy said, as she urged citizens to pay their taxes and dues to enable council do its work at all times.
Representing the Local Government and Internal Affairs Ministry was Deputy Minister Raymond I Kabia who commended the mayor for his vision to better the lives of traders.
He said they have been monitoring works undertaken by the FCC and that the ministry was pleased to say that the council was living to their responsibilities.
The cutting of tape was done by Minister of Transport and Aviation, Hon. Alieu Pate Sowe.
