In Sierra Leone, Zain Subscribers Now Call to other Networks for 19 units

Zain has again brought another innovation to subscribers by affording them the chance to successfully call to other networks for just 19 units per minute. This is a sequel to the newly launched ‘Fambul Tariff which empowers subscribers to talk more and pay less without scratching their heads.


After several requests from subscribers for Zain to reduce tariffs when calling to other networks, the managing director, Ted Sauti Phiri on Wednesday 21st July confirmed that the company was ready to redeem its subscribers.

Addressing pressmen at their Wilberforce offices in western Freetown, Mr. Ted Sauti Phiri said promoting their subscribers is a continuous process in recognition of their ten-year operation in Sierra Leone. “We are reaffirming our commitment and promise as we continue to give the best customers would experience,” he said. According to him Zain is a unique network that operates with innovative services synonymous with advanced world class technology.


He said Zain provides one network for all the 15 countries in Africa and other parts of the world.  “As far as telecommunication is considered, Zain continues to lead the market with developments and services that our subscribers always appreciate.” Mr. Ted Sauti Phiri furthered, adding that the reduction in their tariff from 28 units to 19 units per minute was not done by mistake. “We want to make sure that Zain phones be the only ones you handle, and we want to make sure that our subscribers speak to other networks at easy and affordable costs,” he continued.  He said Zain is a net work that caters for everybody, including farmers, fishermen traders and students. 


According to the Segment Manager Mr. James Koroma, Zain is now prepared to create a wonderful world for the citizenry of this country with poise to captures 95% of the population through their unique products.  Explaining the techniques of the promotion Mr. Koroma said Zain provides 24 hours service with low tariffs. “Zain to Zain from 5am to 12pm costs 12 units per minute; and from 12pm to 5pm 9 units per minute; and from 5pm to 12am, 12 units and from 12am 9 units, and no units from 2am to 5am. He said all calls are billed per second.


The Public Relations Executive of Zain, June Rose Johnson also said the company always shares experiences with their subscribers. “We always believe in giving back to our communities in respect of our corporate social responsibility,” she stated. She ended by disclosing that Zain will launch other 5 sites to further enhance their network in the country.
