Fourteen years old Michael Lamin Tholley on Sunday 1st August 2010 met his untimely and painful death by drowning in sea waters at Aberdeen in the west end of Freetown.

An eyewitness who identified himself as a member of the Beach Patrol staff told our reporter that on that fateful day while on duty, the poor boy was seen among his companions playing football on the beach. The patrol officer who gave his name as Moses Sesay explained further that minutes later he was alerted by the childrens wail as they headed for the seas in an apparent search for their companion who was reportedly drifted by the swelling waves.  I made a spontaneous response to their distress call by jumping into the water to see if I could be of any help, but it was too late as the lad had already been carried deep into the sea, he informed.

One of the boys playmates who gave his name as Sheriff Mujeh explained that the deceased went in search of the ball kicked into the water by one of them when he was swept by the tide.

The deceased father Pa Joseph Tholley said he only came to know of the unfortunate incident that befell his only son on his way from church when he was telephoned by a neighbour.

Search for the remains of the late boys body is still in progress.
