In Sierra Leone, Man Dragged to Court for Le.4, 000

A middle aged man identified as Mohamed Toli Williams was on Tuesday 3rd August, 2010 dragged before Magistrate Steven Conteh of Conteh of Court No. 3 for Four Thousand Leones.

The particulars of offence state that the accused on Sunday 1st instant at Texaco Junction, Kissy in Freetown duped the complainant, Ibrahim Sesay by falsely presenting dirt in a sealed tin as luncheon meat for sale.

When asked what he had to say, he pleaded not guilty to the one count charge saying all the evidence against him were false. He also said that the complainant only wanted to jail him.

The presiding magistrate, surprised at such allegation granted the accused bail in the sum of ten thousand Leones (10,000) and the matter was the adjourned to Monday the 9th August 2010 when the first prosecution witness is expected start to cross examination.

In another development, Mohamed Rahman also made his first appearance before the same magistrate on allegation of wounding with intent, wounding and assault occasioning to actual bodily harm against the complainant Mohamed Sheriff.

He was granted bail in the sum of Fifteen Million Leones (15,000,000) with two sureties. The matter was then adjourned to Monday the 9th August 2010.
