In order to bridge all political and tribal gaps in the country with intention to create a peaceful atmosphere among youths and women ahead of the 2012 general elections, the Muloma Womenís Development Association (MUWODA) has conducted a one- day consultative meeting for women and youths from the various political parties.

In his opening remarks the chairman of the meeting Mr. Foday Musa noted that the reason behind the meeting was to build the capacity of women and the youth so that they can not be influenced nor intimidated during the 2012 general elections. He furthered that the organization came with such initiative taking into cognizance the 10 years mayhem, and the violence which occurred after the APC won the elections in 2007 that for instance led to the vandalizing of the Sierra Leone Peopleís Party headquarters among many others.¬† He called on participants to maintain their integrity as they are the most vulnerable during election periods by refusing to be used by politicians. He also called on all to put aside all political difference for the sake of posterity.

The coordinatorsí representative Salieu Sankoh pointed out that in order for Sierra Leone as a nation to enjoy sustainable development, we must put aside all political, tribal and regional differences, adding that we can only attract foreign donors if we are united. She finally called on all to support the attitudinal change agenda of his Excellency the President because according to her the people are the government and we must be role models.
