Sep 16, 2010, 17:00
One of Africaís indigenous private-sector-driven banking conglomerates, FiBank Group, is holding its Bi-annual Group retreat in Sierra Leone on Thursday 16th of September to Saturday 18th September, 2010, as part of its corporate re-engineering strategy of rotating the hosting of its Group meetings amongst the subsidiary companies within the group.
The Group retreat is being hosted by its Sierra Leone subsidiaries, FiBank, headed by Chris Uchendu and International Insurance Company (SL) Limited, whose helmsman is Nduka Anyaso. FiBank Sierra Leone, who won the AWOLís Best Financial Institution of the Year 2009, started operations in 2002, while International Insurance Company, the widely acknowledged insurers you can trust, started operations in Sierra Leone in 2003.

FiBank Group Directorís arrival in Sierra Leone for the retreat coincided with the formal opening of IICís Life Office and unveiling of seven life assurance policy products, the first of its kind in the history of insurance business in Sierra Leone. The Group Directors, led by its Chairman, Emeka Abone, witnessed the historic event yesterday, at the IICís Life office on Bathurst Street, Freetown. Others on the entourage that arrived Sierra Leone for the meeting include, Moses Agoh and the Heads of the Groupsí subsidiaries in the other four countries where FiBank operates.
It is envisaged that the Group retreat will afford the FiBank Group the opportunity of strengthening its impressive showing in the Sierra Leoneís Banking and Insurance sectors of the economy, a good testimonial that comes from the phenomenal performance of its Sierra Leone subsidiaries.
It would be recalled that FiBank Group is an international banking and financial services power-house, whose business interests in Africa include banking and insurance business. It started operations in the Gambia, where it has its headquarters, before setting up in Sierra Leone in 2002. The Group is also operating banking and insurance business in Liberia, Guinea and DRC Congo and still expanding.
