The Universal Periodic Review is a process wherein all member states of the United Nations are reviewed by the United Nations Human Rights Council on the human rights situation in each member country.

The preparing the report session panel was presented the Edward Sam Chairperson of the Human Right Commission of Sierra Leone. This session shared experience of those who have already prepared and submitted report to the UPR process giving perspectives from the State, national human rights institution and the Non Governmental Sector. Emphasis were laid on not only on the individual roles each stakeholder plays but also but also how the roles of each of the three Key actors in the UPR process are intertwined when preparing the UPR reports.

One could convincingly now state that Sierra Leone is on High gear to meeting the deadline for submission as an Inter- Ministerial Committee has been formed by Government and the Human Rights Commission of Sierra Leone and UNIPSIL human rights Session ready to give technical support.
