Editor of Democrat Newspaper Resigns
Oct 4, 2010, 12:34

After over nine years at the helm of affairs (2001-2010), Abubakarr Joe Sesay resigned his post as Editor of The Democrat Newspaper over the weekend.

Although he gave no reason for the decision, the move paves the way for him to take full charge of his newly established newspaper, Plain Truth, which has been in existence for about three weeks.

Confirming the resignation, Sesay said he enjoyed his long stay in the only institution he has ever worked for in his life since leaving school.

He disclosed that he joined the paper as a cub reporter from the very first day of its operation (April 1, 1996) and steadily rose through the ranks to become Editor in 2001, a position he occupied until past Friday.

“There comes a time in every man’s life when you take a critical decision concerning your future. That is all I have done. I want to confront the challenge to grow headlong. No more, no less,” Sesay merely stated.

He expressed immense gratitude to his former boss, Pious Foray, for giving him the opportunity to excel and also paid glowing tribute to the entire wonderfully courageous staff of the newspaper for their unflinching support to him throughout the time he served the paper.

Sesay said he would now re-direct his energy on making Plain Truth very competitive in the newspaper market as he did with The Democrat.

He was the longest serving staff as well as longest serving Editor of The Democrat newspaper.

Plain Truth newspaper meanwhile comes out every Tuesday and Thursday.
