In Sierra Leone, Edward Blyden III to be buried October 26

The funeral and internment of one of the former National Orators of Sierra Leone, International Diplomat and Academic per excellence, Professor Emeritus Ambassador Dr. Edward Wilmot Blyden III will be held in Freetown next week Tuesday October 26th 2010 at the Zion Methodist Church, Wilberforce Street, followed by his internment at the Race Course Cemetery where he would be laid next to the grave of his own late Grandfather Professor Dr. Edward Wilmot Blyden the First.
The late Professor Dr. Edward Wilmot Blyden, one of the figureheads of Sierra Leone’s independence from Great Britain, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 92 years on Sunday 10th October 2010 at his Smart Farm residence in Freetown. He is survived by his wife, Professor Amelia Blyden, eight children, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many of whom would be flying in to Freetown from abroad to attend the funeral. Publisher of Awareness Times newspaper, Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden, is his second grand-daughter.
