In Sierra Leone, Classdiving Boosts Aberdeen Municipal School

An under-water construction and marine contracting company known as Classdiving has boost the Aberdeen Municipal School by donating three sets of football kits worth hundreds of United States Dollars.


Handing over the football kits to the pupils on Tuesday 18th October 2010, Classdiving Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Anders Peter Hansen, revealed that the football kits were donated to Classdiving by a renowned football club based in Wales, Penycae Football Club.

According to him, Classdiving is an approved agent for Jan De Nul Group, Dredging and Marine Construction in Belgium, which has been operating in Africa since 1993 in construction and repairs of harbours and Jetties, especially in the areas of survey for World Bank projects in countries such as Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda, Angola, Congo, and Guinea.


Mr. Hansen informed the pupils that Classdiving is also partnering with the Martrade Marine Services based in the Netherlands, adding that the company has been very active in offering complete survey solutions for African Ports and Harbors, bathymetric survey, side scan sonar imaging, sub sea bottom profiling, echo sounding for detailed surveys, repositioning of navigation aid for vessel traffic, repairing of harbors, ports, and jetty structures, cathodic protection, cathodic potential survey, anode rehabilitation, emergency repairs, pipe laying, and mooring handling among others.

According to him, flexibility, reliability, quality, as well as customer discretion, are the watch words of the company.

 

He explained further that vessels can be surveyed, repaired & maintained where customers find it suitable - at offshore, enroute, on anchorage or at Port.

 

“Port consulting and port facility security reports are some of the key services offered by Classdiving,” said Mr. Hansen, adding, “whatever the need is in aspects of survey, we have the solution for a fast, reliable first hand knowledge of the ports structure, facility and details, upgrade of sea charts or test the ports construction structure (safe handling structure) steel and concrete super structures with non destructive test testing methods in inspection of port facilities”.

According to the CEO, the Classdiving provides the maritime industry with first class underwater service to vessels, harbors, and ports. He added that they also provide marine consultancy for government and privates companies.


‘At present, Classdiving Sierra Leone has a team of highly trained and qualified members in all scopes of work and survey aspects, with a manpower of forty-seven Sierra Leoneans and four ex-patriates from Denmark, the United Kingdom and Ghana, who are presently involved in all sea based survey programs for Sierra Leone based companies such as the African Minerals Limited and London Mining Company Limited Sierra Leone, as well serving as a contractor for the Vibrocoring Project for African Minerals. We are also service partners with Fugro Seacore Project for African Minerals,” he explained.

Mr. Anders Peter Hansen encouraged the pupils to be steadfast in their education and endeavor to be proud sons and daughters of Sierra Leone.


He encouraged the pupils to use the football kits for their intended purposes, whilst assuring them that Classdiving will explore avenues back home to solicit more support for the school.


Deputy Head of the School, Mr. Modupeh Thomas, expressed appreciation to the Penycae Football Club in Wales and Classdiving management for supporting the school.

He however, used the forum as an opportunity to appeal to the company for more interventions, especially in the provision of computers and other school materials.


He assured Classdiving that the school will use the kits for their intended purposes.
