Haja Afsatu Olayinka Kabba has told Awareness Times that it was “sheer mischief” for anyone to say she discussed her criminal trial with President Koroma during the trial itself and certainly not in the presence of her lawyers.

According to Haja Afsatu, she did not deny holding meetings with President Koroma but she said there was “no midnight meeting with President Koroma and my lawyers”. However, when it was pointed out to her that the allegation of such a meeting with her lawyers never mentioned the word ‘Mid-Night’, she stated that her head has been hurting her too much and so she had not read the original article but had merely been told what was in it.

“I am confused with all these writings and writings so much so that my head hurts,” Haja Afsatu Kabba said over her cell phone last weekend and refused to continue to discuss the issue further despite repeat efforts to get further clarification.

Meanwhile, her lawyers have also denied any ‘Midnight’ Meeting with President Koroma but the author of the original investigative piece has fired back to stand by his story saying he never said anything about a Midnight meeting. Both correspondence are reproduced on this page.

In all of this, President Ernest Koroma has kept a very wise silence.
