In Sierra Leone, Finance Minister Launches ECOBank’s rapid transfer product

The Minister of Finance and Economic Development Dr. Samura Kamara on Monday 1st November, 2010 launched the Rapid Transfer Product of Ecobank at the Bank of Sierra Leone Complex, Kingtom in Freetown.

Speaking on the ceremony the minister expressed his pleasure to launch another product in the banking sector in this country. He said the banks, especially Ecobank is laying the strongest foundation to move the economy to higher height. He noted that customers must be convinced that they would gain from the bank not only from deposit or make withdrawals by the new product. He said as a government they were trying to improve on the landscaped of banking in the country. "It is very difficult for a bank to operate without supervision from the central bank," said Dr. Kamara. He ended by commending the bank for their positive relationship with customers and the central bank, saying it is ‘very good and cordial.’

In his own statement, the managing director of Ecobank Sierra Leone Limited, Mr. Clement Dodo extended his appreciation to all those that graced the occasion, he said the Rapid Transfer Product is one of the flagship products of Ecobank, created with the needs of the customers in mind, and hence customer friendly. "The new product will provide Ecobank customers and walk-in clients alike, with a fast, convenient, reliable and secure way to transfer funds not only within the Ecobank system in Sierra Leone but across the over 730 branches located in all the 29 countries where Ecobank is present. "This is to confirms the status of Ecobank as a truly "Pan African Bank."

M.D Dodo further said the introduction of the product would not only enhance the movement of people but will also help support the promotion of trade in goods and services across the African continent. "The launch of this Rapid Transfer Product is indeed another milestone for the banking industry and it demonstrates Ecobank’s commitment to financial innovation.
