Plans are fast underway to establish a brand new radio station for the people of Kenema city and beyond.
Speaking to Awareness Times recently, the owner of the radio Brima Kargbo Jnr., said the New Radio, “City Music” will be on air a couple of weeks from now, and would broadcast on Frequency Modulation FM 103.3
Brima Kargbo further said that the new radio station is expected to have a nationwide coverage soon. He said similar project would be replicated in the north in the shortest possible time.
He maintained that the new radio station would focus more on development and in changing the mind set of his people with regards to community and national development. He intimated that the initiative came because of the love he has for the people of Kenema, saying after spending years in the Diaspora, he decided to come back to bail his people out of poverty.
“When the radio starts full operations, I am certain of employing sixty to seventy able bodied youths both in the field of journalism and other disciplines,” he said, adding that even though development is coming rapidly into that city, there were still areas that needed attention such as youth unemployment and the attitude of the average Sierra Leoneans with regards national development.
Brima Kargbo ended by disclosing that other medium term plans include the setting up of a television station.
