 Andrew Kelli Receives Heroes Welcome at Lungi

Local tabloids say one of the aspirants for the Flagbearership of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party Dr. Andrew Keili last Thursday 25th November 2010 received a hectic welcome from party supporters at the Lungi International Airport. Dr. Keili was recently on a fund raising tour in the United States of America where he met strong party members who embraced him for being a contender. He has reportedly assured party members that he would democratically show the APC the exit door if given the opportunity to lead the SLPP for the 2012 elections.

APC Jubilates over SLPP Walkout from Parliament

The Majority leader of the APC in parliament Hon. Skeku BB Dumbuya has reportedly claimed that the walkout of the opposition Party SLPP was not a boycott on the budget debate. According to him the opposition walked out because they have nothing to criticize. Hon.SBB Dumbuya is reported as saying that the budget was flawless and that his party has chosen the right direction to deliver. He maintained that the pelting of stones on the SLPP offices in Kono has no bearing with the budget debate.

President Launches Mami En Pikin Wellbodi Week

President Koroma has reportedly launched Mami en pikin wellbodi week at Makeni City in the Bombali District last Friday. According to reports, the aim of this project is to bring health and happiness to the poor who cannot afford to pay their medical bills. The Mami en Pikin wellbodi week is also observed in many other parts of the world. The launching ceremony was graced by government ministers, members of parliament, traditional rulers, medical personnel and a host of others where the president is said to have donated 3.5Million bed nets to the people of Sierra Leone.


World Vision Constructs School in Bendu Cha

A non- government organization World Vision has reportedly constructed a school at the Komdor Community in Bendu Cha Chiefdom Bonthe District with support from German partners Mr. and Mrs. Klaus Korner. The construction of the project which started in December 2009 was completed in March 2010.The aim of the project is to bring access to education and create a conducive environment for the community especially school going children.. At least 264 pupils are said to have been enrolled in the school.

Parliament Ratifies 2011 Budget

Sierra Leone House of Parliament has reportedly ratified the 2011 budget Act without the participation of the main opposition SLPP. The debate which started on 19th ended on the 25th November 2010. Reports say, the bill was not pass by two third of MPs.

Guinea Elections Affect Revenue Collection

Reports have it that revenue collectors at the Sierra Leone- Guinea Border are experiencing serious drop in revenue collection since the Guinea election impasse started. Reports say most business people who used to ply the borders have stopped due to the stalemate. Gbalamuya border in Kambia District, the Bo/ Jendema in the Pujehun District and other borders in Kailahun are among those facing this threat.

Le 4.1 B Worth of Fake Drugs Destroyed


The Pharmacy Board of Sierra Leone on Thursday 25th November 2010 destroyed anti- biotic, injectable and other expensive drugs worth four Billion One Hundred Thousand Leones in Freetown. The Pharmacy Board is charged with the responsibility of protecting the lives of citizens especially in tracking down drugs that will affect their health. The Board is currently searching pharmacies, patent stores and drug peddlers to withdraw all fake and substandard d rugs and destroy them.

Usu Boie Reconciles Fullahs and Mandingoes

SLPP Flagbearer Usu Boie has reportedly reconciled the Fullahs and Mandingoes in Kenema following a recent battle between them. It could be recalled that the duo fought in Kenema following the recent announcement of election results in Guinea.
