Local Unit Commander (LUC) of the Kissy Police Division has died in Freetown.

Superintendent Nepor Steven Senesie met his untimely death on Sunday 28th November 2010 at the Connaught Hospital, following a very brief illness.

The late police chief was reportedly struck by illness during the late hours of Sunday 28th November after he returned home from work to join his family.

Head of Communication and Media in the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ibrahim Samura, yesterday Monday 29th November 2010, told the Awareness Times that the SLP is yet to recover from the shock of the sudden death of the police boss, as according to him, the police have no records indicating that the late Nepor Senesie was ill. He described the loss as an irreparable one since the late man happened to be one of the gallant and brave officers in the SLP.

“Since his enrolment into the SLP as a police constable in 1989, the late man proved himself to be a hardworking, diligent, devoted and obedient police officer,” ASP Samura disclosed. This, he said, is evident in his record of successful elevation through the ranks to the post of a Superintendent.

He disclosed that Superintendent Senesie was the leader of the very first crop of personnel from the SLP to participate in the Peace Keeping Mission in Haiti.

Nepor Senesie, he furthered, served the SLP in several capacities including being the staff officer of the former Inspector General, Brima Acha Kamara, Local Unit Commander, Eastern Police Division, and until his demise was Local Unit Commander Kissy Police Division.

As a result of his diligence and professionalism while serving as LUC for the Eastern Police Division, the community people crowned him as an honorary traditional chief, and was by tradition named Pa Alimamy.

The late Superintendent Nepor Senesie will be buried today, Tuesday 30th November 2010 at the Kingtom Cemetery.

Final prayers for the late man will be offered at the Kingtom Police Barracks Mosque.

The corpse is expected to be escorted by an outrider from the Connaught Mortuary this morning to the Special Line at the Kingtom Police Barracks for a laying out ceremony.

From there, it would be conveyed to the police headquarters on George Street in Freetown for another laying out ceremony.

The late police superintendent is survived by his only son Nepor Senesie (Jnr.), his loving wife Mrs. Taiwo Nepor Senesie and several relatives at home and abroad.

May his soul rest in perfect peace.
