One of the leading telecommunication companies in Sierra Leone, Africell Lintel, has launched a bonanza dubbed: “Africell Christmas Show”.
The launch took place on Thursday 2nd December 2010 at the Country Lodge Auditorium, Hill Station in Freetown.
Africell’s Managing Director, Mr. Robert El-Khaury recalled that his company celebrated the month of Ramadan with subscribers in its ‘Treasure Hunt’ promotion. “Thousands of our valued subscribers participated in that promotion and won themselves various goodies,” he said.
Corporate Affairs Officer, Africell, Mr. Joe Amara Bangura explained that the new promotion would be held in the form of raffle draws that would be aired on radio stations across the country and the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Cooperation Television (SLBC/TV).
“In order for a subscriber to qualify for the raffle draws, he/she only needs to send a blank SMS to short code 777,” he said.
“The draws are going to be held in a similar manner as it happened during the Ramadan promotion,” Bangura explained, adding “Lucky subscriber will have to choose from twenty boxes numbered one to twenty and whatever is inside the selected box will be given to the subscriber”.
The prices in those boxes include cash, recharge cards, and opportunities to spin the ‘wheel of fortune’ wherein subscribers can win themselves generators, television sets, freezers and lots more.
He furthered that there are also thirty balls hanged on a Christmas tree as part of the draws and one of the balls contained the star price of twenty million leones (Le20,000,000).
