I.B Kargbo Launches Green Network in Sierra Leone

Minister of Information and Communications, Alhaji Ibrahim Ben Kargbo, has officially launched a new telecommunications company in Sierra Leone called Green Network Sierra Leone.

The launch, which took place on Tuesday 1st February 2011at the company’s King Harman Road Headquarters in Freetown, attracted distinguished personalities including the Libyan Ambassador, His Excellency Mohamed Alharari, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to China, Joseph Koroma, Chairman National Telecommunications Commission (NATCOM), Serray Timbo, and several other government functionaries.

Green Network’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Eimabruk S. Elgembari, described the launch as a mile stone in the development of mobile technology in Sierra Leone.

He disclosed the company’s commitment to partner with the Government of Sierra Leone to bring world-class telecommunication services to the people of Sierra Leone.

Elgembari disclosed that the company is presently operating in seven African countries - Chad, Ivory Coast, Niger, Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda and Zambia, adding that after Sierra Leone, plans are already underway to launch the network in other countries across the world.

The CEO furthered that the launch of the network in Sierra Leone is part of the Libyan Africa Investment Portfolio (LAP) that was incorporated in 2006, as a Libyan foreign investment vehicle primarily focusing on contributing to the development of African countries.

The company, he continued, provides total communication solutions.

Information and Communications Minister, I.B Kargbo, described the launch as landmark, noting that it has significantly contributed towards strengthening the bilateral relationship between Sierra Leone and Libya.

He assured that the APC led government will always provide the enabling environment for the operation of the company in the country.
