President of the Lebanese Community in Sierra Leone, Mr. Samir Hassaniyeh, has assured His Excellency President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma that as long as the latter continues to implement developmental projects in Sierra Leone, the Lebanese community in this country will also stop at nothing to continue supporting these projects financially or otherwise until they are completed.

Mr. Hassaniyeh made this assurance whilst donating building materials including two tons of Iron rods and two hundred bags of cements worth over twenty million Leone, on behalf of Mercury International, to the Lumley Police Division on Thursday 24th May 2012.

According to the Lebanese boss, his community is well satisfied with developmental strides being undertaken by President Koroma and his government. For this reason he went on, they will continue to lend their financial and moral support to any developmental project undertaken in the country.

Donating the building materials, Mr. Hassaniyeh congratulated the Lumley Police Division for undertaking the construction of a modern police division. He cited that, months back, on behalf of the Lebanese community, he donated thirty million Leones to the project, adding that, he is now presenting the building materials on behalf of Mercury International to the same project. He used the forum to plead to the police hierarchy to continue maintaining Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Alhaji Gibril Kabba Kamara as Local Unit Commander for the Lumley Police Division. According to him, CSP Kabba Kamara has proved that he has all what it takes to maintain security within the divisionís jurisdiction. Mr. Hassaniyeh ended by further assuring their committee towards a successful completion of the Lumley project and other developmental projects across the country.

Receiving the donation, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Sierra Leone Police, Mr. Richard Moigbe, thanked the Lebanese Community and Mercury International for their donation towards the project.

He assured that he will transmit the call for CSP Kabba Kamara to be maintained as head of the division, to his boss the Inspector General of police. DIG Moigbe further assured that the materials would be used judiciously to complete the project in time.

Speaking earlier, the Local Unit Commander for the Lumley Police Division, CSP Alhaji Gibril Kabba Kamara, showered praises on the Lebanese community, whilst referring to them as one of the grate contributors to and financiers of the project, alongside the Indian community and Comium. He said the current building hosting the station, has become very small to host all the personnel therein. For this reason, he went on, he held meetings with the sitting Member of Parliament for Constituency 112 and the Chairman for the Lumley Local Policing Partnership Board and they agreed on the need for the construction of a much spacious building.

According to CSP Kabba Kamara, the project was initially financed by the community before the coming in of other bigger donors. He maintained that, the new building will have two separate cells, with toilets and bathrooms for male and female detainees and also juvenile detention centre. He called on more support from the public for the project to be completed on time.
