SLPP Loses Third Northern Region District Chairman
Jun 7, 2012, 17:18
The main opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) has lost the third of five of its district chairmen in the Northern Province with the sudden resignation of Bombali District Chairman Alhaji Musigal Jalloh on May 30th 2012. Alhaji Jalloh who has served three consecutive terms faithfully as Bombali District Chairman for the party, quit in the wake of the party’s slogan seemingly changing to One Mende! One Temne! away from its original One Country! One People!

There has been an unprecedented level of resignations from the SLPP ever since its presidential candidate Maada Bio was elected last August amidst controversy.
Speaking over the national television, Alhaji Jalloh informed he was going to use his political skills to help another party, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
In apparent reference to unsubstantiated charge of opportunism and job-hunting which SLPP levies on defected members, Alhaji Jalloh said “I am not going to look for a job” but he skirted around the real reasons for resignation. He only informed he would use the “bad experiences” he learnt within SLPP to ensure NDA does not make similar mistakes.
Alhaji Musigal Jalloh is now joining the ranks of Osman Karankay Conteh of Port Loko and Alhaji Batorman Sheriff of Koinadugu who had earlier quit SLPP. Chairmen for the two remaining Northern districts of Kambia and Tonkolili are reported to still be loyal to SLPP for now.
