What is Happening with HANCI Adoptions Case?

I have read an emotional letter written by, and on behalf of the affected parents of children whom the parents say were illegally adopted and taken out of the country during the civil war years. The parents allege they were tricked into letting the children go.

This matter has dragged on for so long and the raw emotions that it has brought out over the years, have been palpable.

This newspaper will not make any attempt to publish the said letter from the parents without first speaking to those senior government officials that the letter had indicted for criminal and other forms of negligence. However, I must state that I am appalled and saddened that this matter does not seem to be moving as fast as it should have moved.

Delaying the progression of this matter is inhuman and serves this country badly. Very, very badly.

Those parents deserve closure to this matter. They need answers like the whereabouts of their children in America and also whether the children whom will now be grown adults (if they are still alive), actually know that they were illegally adopted from West Africa.

If the children know but want nothing to do with their biological parents in Africa, that is fine. If the children (who are all now adults) do not know the truth and have still not yet been told the truth that they were virtually kidnapped and taken to America illegally, then that is just cruel. Whatever the case, the parents deserve answers - Nothing more and nothing less.

This newspaper might have to keep a closer eye on this matter because Justice delayed is justice denied.
