Director General of the Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO), Samuel Bangura has described President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma as not only a leader of Sierra Leone but the World at large because of his contributions towards young people in and out of the country.
Samuel Bangura made this statement during the All Peoples Congress (APC) party National Young League Conference held from 23rd to 25th March 2017 at the Great Bai Bureh Hall in Port Loko District, North of Sierra Leone.
He said that in Sierra Leone, President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma is a President but to the International world is a great leader while to them at the APC NYL are fortunate to have him as their Father citing the famous quotation from 1st Timothy 4: 12 “Let No One Despises thy Youth” which President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma heeded to that command by appointing the youngest Ministers, youngest Director General and also made indigenous Sierra Leoneans business millionaires’ ever in the history of Sierra Leone.
The SALWACO Director General continued that one of the greatest challenges facing governments and policy makers in Africa today is how they should create opportunities for the continent of 200 million youths to live decent lives and contribute to the socio-economic development of their countries just like their counterparts in Europe, America and Asia disclosing the recent National Census survey which estimated that 70% of the country’s population is made up of youth and children.
According to the Director General, youth in Sierra Leone dominate the army, Universities, police force, driving profession (Okada) and President Koroma has given young people the opportunity to dominate the country’s governance structure, a promise the President has already fulfilled adding that President Koroma was aware that the youth are the most important group in any country as they are the link between childhood and old age as the vision of the Sierra Leone lies in the hands of the youth.
