Sierra Leone News : Parliament Investigates Casinos

The oversight committee on Tourism has on Tuesday 23rd May, 2017 investigates three different Casinos, Leone Casino, Lagonda Casino and freedom Jackpot faced the committee on Tourism to explain to the committee about their operations in the country.


The chairperson of the committee, Hon. Gladys G. Brima said this is the first time they are investigating the operations of the Casinos in the country and they will continue doing this as long as the committee on Tourism continue to exist in parliament.


She said the Casinos operators are employing Sierra Leonean without paying their NASSIT and other benefit with a very little salary but pay their experts hug amount of money as salary while Sierra Leoneans are suffering.


She said they must protect the citizens of this country and that is why they want to get an explanation from them this time.


At first, all these Casinos face the committee without any supporting document and the committee chair send them back and detailed their colleagues until they presented the supporting document to the committee.


Hon. Mohamed Tholley said institutions coming to parliament without any supporting document mean they don’t take parliament serious and they must bring their document first. 


Leone Casino and Lagonda Casino late presented their supporting documents but freedom Jackpot did not and az,'they were detained till 6 o’clock in the evening hour.
