Sierra Leone News : Politician & Others Incarcerated for Alleged Case of Murder

The five-accused people including, Sylvester Fonnie who is an active politician in the Goderich Community together with Alusine Koroma, David A. Cole, Sheik Mohamed Koroma and Lovetta Mexmela Cole yesterday Monday June 19th were arraigned before Magistrate Albert Moody of the Freetown Siaka Stevenís Street Magistrate Court No.2 for the alleged murder of one Mohamed Kabba Kargbo.

 

The accused persons were arraigned on two counts charge of Conspiracy to Commit a Felony to wit murder and Murder Contrary to Law that police alleged to have taken place between Thursday April 6th and Sunday April 7th 2017 at Metchen, Goderich in the Western Area of Freetown that the five accused people Sylvester Fonnie who is an active politician in the Goderich Community together with Alusine Koroma, David A. Cole, Sheik Mohamed Koroma and Lovetta Mexmela Cole allegedly gang up and murder the deceased Mohamed Kabba Kargbo.

 

The lead defence counsel, H.I. Hamed urged the prosecutor Inspector Sorie Conteh to bring in their witnesses and testify in the case. She added that their clients have been incarcerated for over a month and the liberty of their clients is paramount.

 

The prosecutor Inspector Sorie Conteh applied that the court should adjourned the case because he has not interviewed his witnesses.

 

Magistrate Albert Moody ordered that the five- accused persons; Sylvester Fonnie who is an active politician in the Goderich Community together with Alusine Koroma, David A. Cole, Sheik Mohamed Koroma and Lovetta Mexmela Cole should be taken to the Pademba Road Male Correctional Center in Freetown and the matter was adjourned to Wednesday June 21st, 2017, for the prosecutor Inspector Conteh to lead in evidence the first prosecution witness so that he can explain what he or she knows about the death of the late Mohamed Kabba Kargbo.
