Media managers of the two loudest presidential flagbearer aspirants for the main opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), Alhaji Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella and his rival, the defeated 2012 elections SLPP presidential candidate Julius Maada Bio, have been quite busy in past weeks. Each team is working hard to convince their party's 37% quota of national polity that their candidate is the better one to fly SLPP presidential flag at next general elections.
Statistical analysis have shown that since the year 1967 to date, in all free and fair elections conducted in Sierra Leone, the highest ever percent that the SLPP can ever win at the polls is 37%. It is this 37% maximum that the flagbearer contenders are playing to, on their 'Torkpoi' gallery.
Yumkella is reported to have arrived in Freetown last evening whilst Bio is expected in Freetown within the next few days. The two men and their supporters will expectedly have a showdown as to 'who is who' within hearts and minds of 37% of Sierra Leoneans.
One hot & huge tussle between the two men is over the billboard portrait of defeated candidate Bio that looms high atop the front foyer entrance of the SLPP headquarters - visible from most parts of the capital city. Yumkella supporters want the portrait to be forcibly brought down until at least another flagbearer contest is held whilst Bio supporters say "No way!".
