Magistrate Albert Moody presiding over the Freetown Magistrate Court No.1 at the Main Law Court Building in Freetown yesterday Wednesday August 2nd2017, remanded in custody Mohamed Kanu, Alimamy Turay, Santigie Bundu and Abass Momoh Kamara at the Pademba Road Male Correctional Center in Freetown for allegedly attacking Mr. Mahmoud Sink and his family with cutlasses and other deadly weapons and stole valuable properties worth millions of Leones.
The complainant, Mr. Mahmoud Sink told the court that on Tuesday February 7th 2017, he was sleeping together with his family at their residence at Kerry town in Waterloo when he was woken up by the footsteps of the accus3ed persons, Mohamed Kanu, Alimamy Turay, Santigie Bundu and Abass Momoh Kamara. He went on to say that he immediately rises from his bed and he went through the corridor to see what was really happening in the house. He added that he saw six people standing in his parlor and he asked them a question that prompted the first accused person, Mohamed Kanu to rush at him and started cutting him with a cutlass whilst his wife was standing behind him. He went further that the accused person pushed them into his bedroom and asked them to sit on the floor and they threatened to kill his wife if she refused. He disclosed that the accused persons also attempted to rape his wife but his wife lied to them that she is an HIV and AIDS positive and they step back for fair of the disease. He continued that the accused persons tied their hands and feet with rope and collected his valuable properties including money and car worth millions of Leones. He went on to say that the accused persons also went into the room of his son and fetch his son and threatened to harm him with the cutlass if they fail to give them more money.
He added further that his wife asked the accused persons to take everything in the house but not to hurt their only child. He revealed further that one of the accused person told him that they are not in the house to steal but to kill him and thereafter, the accused persons went down to the store and he untie himself and passed through the window to the main door and he heard the accused persons talking and he jumped over the fence and ran to the bush. He disclosed that few minutes later after the accused persons had left, he went to the Benguma Barrack to pursue the accused persons but the soldiers refused and he then went to the Waterloo Police Station and reported the matter.
He went on to say that a team of police officers were dispatched with him to pursue the accused persons but they were unable to see the accused persons. He added that early in the morning he went to the Emergency Hospital for treatment and thereafter he made statement to police and he was issued a medical request form for treatment and examination at the Rokupa Government Hospital and after he was treated and examined he returned the endorsed medical reports to the station.
Magistrate Albert Moody adjourned the case to Wednesday 9th August 2017 and remanded the accused persons in custody at the Pademba Road Male Correctional Center in Freetown.
