Sierra Leone News : Special Advisor To The Prime Minister Of Ethiopia Call On The Hon. Vice President

The Hon. Vice President, Ambassador Dr. Victor Bockarie Foh today Wednesday 17th May, 2017 received in audience the Minister and Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghedreyesus at his Tower Hill Office in Freetown. The Special Advisor is in the country to solicit the support of the Sierra Leone Government to his candidacy for the post of Director - General of the World Health Organisation.
With the elections to be held on Tuesday 23rd May, 2017 in Geneva, Switzerland Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghedreyesus who is on tour to Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone is the endorsed candidate of the African Union. Briefing the Hon. VP on the purpose of his tour, Dr. Ghedreyesus said they are in the final push of his campaign and he is therefore here to thank the Government and his colleagues for their support and to seek final blessings from African Leaders as tradition demands.
He expressed utmost satisfaction with the support he has been getting from the AU member countries, this he said has made him a front-runner in the race.
In his response, Vice President Foh welcomed the delegation and extends African traditional greetings to the Prime Minister of Ethiopia from the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone. He appreciated the Prime Minister in the spirit of African Unity and expressed that the two countries will always work in cooperation.
VP. Foh informed the delegation that the African Union (AU) has taken a position and Sierra Leone, being an integral part of the AU, wholeheartedly supports that position. He urged the candidate not to relent in this final lap of the campaign and wished him well.
He said the prayers of the people and the actions and muscles of the Government of Sierra Leone are with him in the spirit of African Unity.
The Candidate, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghedreyesus is being accompanied on the tour by his Campaign Chairperson; Prof. Senait Fisseha, the Senior Adviser in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rwanda; Desire Nyaruhirara and Special Assistant to the Candidate; Nathan Zewdu.
